help help help please :-), i am working on Sleeping Beauty and am almost done. I have 2 1/2 skeins of white left and need to know (since youve got that part done) will it be enough to cover the entire middle section (the parts under the swirls of beads and also the blended 369+white in that area).
Here’s the rub, smarty me, who used to be a model stitcher for many local shops had a plethora of JP Coats white and when i bundled SB to stitch, i thought ,surely all i had left would be enough. Now, no one has any more JP Coats white, it was hands down the brightest white i could find. DMC and Anchor just didnt compare.
If i have to change the color in the dress, i am not opposed to doing so, i change everythng always, but i really hate to considering i am just soooo close to being done.
Will those two and a half skeins i have left cover it?
Please let me know and THANK YOU 🙂

    Hi,

Firstly, I will say I am a very frugal stitcher, so my estimates usually come out well under what the “professional” estimates say I should need. I somehow use floss quite sparingly, and I am not sure how that happens. I do stitch using the Danish method for Mirabilias (meaning I go as far as possible in one direction and then turn around and come back).

I would say, though, that if they are 8yard skeins that 2.5 skeins should be plenty. I am not sure how many skeins I started with as I have a tendency to kit things up in precut lengths and I started her a while ago, but I am pretty sure I only bought 3-4 skeins of white for her in total, and I a still have some left.

If you only need to do the green and white bit, I do think that will be plenty. Have you done the blanket? (the blue and white bit?)

I guess it depends on your stitching style and fabric count with how much white you actually need. Good luck. I would love to see WiP picks!

Thanks so much for the reply! I have stitched the entire monster and the only section i have left is the part of her dresss that hangs down with the swirls of beads in it. I did run over to one of our local shops and bought 2 extra skeins of anchor #2 which is very close to JPCoats (it turns out) so if i have to use that in the blended 369+white, i will.
I reexamined everything yesterday and i think i should be ok. i ended up running into a few of my stitching friends from way back (the original shop owners i used to stitch for) and she said she thought i’d be ok with the 2.5 left but better be safe than sorry and go ahead with the anchor, just in case.
So i did, and while there i picked up the JCS ornament issue for this year.
All in all, worth the trip! When my kids get up, I will have one of them take a WIP pic and i will post it to show you as they have the fancy phones 🙂
Thanks so much for your help!
